The Right Perspective

Have you ever desired something so much you could taste it? The very thought of your dream sent you into a world of imagining, planning and anticipating the fulfillment your dream. At times the wait is so overwhelming that you pray to God to remove the dream if it isn’t in his will for your life. After all, Proverbs 13:12 states “Hope deferred makes the heart-sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”

Recently, I heard a sermon in which the pastor said something  profound. He said, “Do not pray for the desire to go away, instead pray for the desire to fulfill your dream the right way.” Wow!

God desires to bless His children for in Jeremiah 29:11 God said He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. However, have we looked intently into our desires and honestly asked if what we want gratifies our selfish nature or does the desire help someone else along the way? I’ve begun to realize that Jesus came to serve, seek and save that which was lost even though He had every right to be served.

Pray that your God-given desires are rooted in bettering the lives of others and as a result of your dream, God is honored above all else.

** If anyone would like a special prayer request (Ephesians 6:18) please feel free to email me at sneedtx@verizon.net (your privacy will be respected and honored); I would love to pray for you. I also ask that you think of others whom you can share this message with as well.
