2014 in review

A big THANK YOU to everyone who read my blog! May the grace of God continue to keep and richly bless you always!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 6,900 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 6 trips to carry that many people.

There’s power in the middle of the room

Lowering-of-Man-Through-RoofLuke 5:17-20 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.

18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.

20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”

For several days, I have petitioned the Lord for direction regarding what to write for today. At times I have felt void of words or a topic to write about, for my prayer is to only write what will inspire hearts to Christ. However, I’ve also learned that I must put my thoughts aside and allow the Holy Spirit to do what only the Holy Spirit can do.

So, after much prayer and petition, I was lead to write about Jesus healing the paralytic. We see in the scriptures several key elements taking place that unfold during this wonderful miracle:

  • Jesus attracts a crowd (Luke 5:17).
  • The power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick (Luke 5:17).
  • The power and persistence of loyal friends (Luke 5:18-19).
  • They had to get their friend to the middle of the room where Jesus was (Luke 5:19).
  • Their faith moved Jesus (Luke 5:20).

Everywhere Jesus showed up, a crowd followed. Was it the fan fare of Jesus? Or was it the overwhelming presence of God’s power upon Jesus which healed the sick? I believe the hopeless saw in Jesus hope for they grew accustomed to what hopelessness looked like.

In the case of the paralytic, his friends knew they had to draw upon their faith and persistence to overcome the barrier of the crowd to get to Jesus for they knew there was power in the middle of the room.

Often times we must overcome various barriers in life to get to the middle of the room were God’s power is. What barriers are you facing today? Now is the time to take an honest look at your life to meet the healing power of Jesus.

Luke 5:19 says, “When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.” The Lord is asking that you put your faith, concerns, issues, marriage, children, health and life in front of Jesus right in the middle of it all. Nothing is to be with held from the middle of the room.

The grace of God is forever presence to help us along the way as we continue to grow in the ways of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. So, I say be encouraged for the Lord is always in the middle of your situation with the power to heal and the grace to freely give to the faithful of heart.
