One print

FingerprintThe other day our youngest son was explaining how he was unhappy with his height. In his mind, his frame could use a little lengthening to match the height of his big brother. Mind you, his brother is four years older and growing like a weed or two.

Well, as a parent I searched for words of encouragement that would help our son see the uniqueness in who God created him to be. After deliberating in my head for several minutes, a wonderful thought came to me. His FINGERPRINT! Of course, we talked about how at the age of eight he is still growing and has many more years to grow. However, I wanted to impress upon his heart just how much God loves him.

Yes, his fingerprint. I chose to help our wonderful little boy focus on the uniqueness of his identity. We talked about how out of 7 billion people living on planet earth, there will never be another fingerprint like his.

He is unique and special in God’s eyes regardless of his stature. According to Jeremiah 1:5, God the father knew us before we were born and set us apart. The God we serve is utterly in love with His children which is why He sent His one and only son to die for us.

Today, see yourself how God sees you which is unique, righteous, whole, a new creation and a child of God.

  1. This made me cry. I usually head out the door with my bat but today I will leave with my Kleenex box! I was just reAding Laurie’s blog which turned on the faucets and you’re pretty much confirmed that I’ll have a crying day today! I’m ok with that! Thank you

  2. The concept you used in your story brought tears to my eyes. I try to tell my son all the time that he’s very special and he different because God love him; next time I will tell him about his fingerprints. God bless and keep you and your family and thank you for that beautiful story.

God is so good, it is amazing how all his children, think in the same way, without personally ever meeting eachother, this blog caused me to cry, because I would tell my son this all of the time. I love God so much, I can not stop crying. Thank you God for you son and the blood he shed for those that chose to be saved. God bless….
