Can we talk Wednesday

Proverbs 4:7 (KJV) Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

This week has been challenging not only for myself, but also for the country. My intent today was to record my thoughts on the deaths of two African-American men and five Dallas police officers. Over the course of several days I have experienced every emotion you can think of ranging from sorrow, to anger, to down right confusion.

As a pastor I seek the heart of God through scripture and prayer. However, at times we must quiet ourselves to get understanding and to seek the heart of God to speak what is right, not who is right. Which brings me to a place of prayer and meditating on God’s word before I speak the thoughts of only the Father. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, please stay tuned as I take some time to hear from God regarding the recent chain of events. I want to thank you for following my blog and commenting on each segment of  “Can we talk Wednesday.” Your participation means the world to me and I am grateful beyond words. Until next time, may God continue to bless and keep you as we navigate this thing we call life.

In His grace,

Pastor Lionel

  1. I have been at a loss for words over this, Lionel. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought of you and wanted to have an open, truth seeking conversation with you because I know you would help me gain some understanding. What you have written here today gives me even more respect and confidence in who you are.

I do know there is still too much division today. The only real answer I have is that love is always the answer. We can ALL come together as one people through love. God’s love. His love is pure; without regard to color, gender, religion….all of the things people use to segregate. I just don’t believe he made us all different to be divided, but rather to bring flavor, interest, diversity to life. I truly believe we are all as intricate puzzle pieces that fit perfectly TOGETHER — each unique and an important part of the whole picture.

i really do want to understand the challenges people face today; the truth from all angles. I seek understanding. I hope for answers.

    • Mary this is one of the many reasons why I call you mom and love you dearly! You are amazing in so many ways which is what the world is in need of today. Please be in prayer for me as I seek God’s will in what to say. I seek what is right not who is right and to provide insight from all perspectives.
