If Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Were alive today he would fight for the 800,000 Federal workers who have been furloughed or are working without pay which is a form of slavery.
These Federal workers have no way to pay their rent, mortgage, cellphone, support their children, etc.. After they exhaust their personal funds then what?
Because of the government shutdown no tax refunds, womens shelters will close allowing their abusers to kill them, no more food Stamps, WIC, Social Security, SSI, MEDICARE or Medicaid. People with disabilities like my brother Stephen will no longer receive services or programs that are necessary for life.
All for a Wall that is fiscally and structurally unstable. A Wall that can be easily circumvented by Drones and Airplanes.
Our nation is being brought down by a megalomaniac despot dictator.
The government shutdown also affects churches because those furloughed workers cannot pay tithes or offering. Especially around the Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland areas. Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Church must speak up and condemn policies that hurt and harm people. Be against building a Wall. The Church must Build Bridges not walls.
Anyway Drones and Airplanes can easily get over any wall. Not practical.
Also the Wall and aggressive tactics against refugees is not Biblical.
Leviticus 19:33-34
Exodus 22:21
Exodus 23:9
Malachi 3:5
Deuteronomy 27:19
I could go on but God makes it clear that we can’t persecute refugees or immigrants.
