Thought for the day: “Ferguson”

This was not my original post for today. However, I felt compelled by the spirit to post this as I read several Facebook postings regarding the unfolding events of Ferguson. I have no desire to advocate a side or position for there are no winners here. My heart is to guide minds in the direction of Christ for He is the answer and peace that surpasses all understanding.

Issues

Young Woman Enjoying the ViewHebrews 4:15-16  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.  Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

There’s something about driving in my car or sitting in my cubical that brings about God’s revelation for me. Most of the quotes or lessons I write, God usually reveals to me during those moments. For that, I am extremely grateful and awe inspired.

One of those cubical moments came the other day as I thought about “Issues” we face in life. The spectrum is broad to say the least, but all in all the general theme of “Issues” is a universal language.

However, my bible tells me that Jesus is able to relate to universal “Issues” for He was God in the flesh. Jesus walked the face of this earth for 33 years as the son of God. The bible says in Hebrews 4:15 “…we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”

Yet, we sometimes feel no one can relate to our “Issues.” I imagine the conversations with God go something like this; “but Lord, you don’t know my husband/wife the way I do.” Or, perhaps the conversation may sound like this; “Lord, you see what had happen was….so you don’t really understand what I’m going through now.”

There isn’t an “Issue” both high and low that Jesus cannot relate to. Furthermore, there isn’t an “Issue” Jesus cannot solve or doesn’t have a solution for. The key is a surrendered trusting heart and spirit.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says it best by petitioning us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

It is surrending the trust that causes the stumbling blocks for most of us. You see to trust is to surrender control. To trust is to rest. To trust is to quiet the war of words within our mind. Yes, to trust is to commit to the course God has set for you before you were born (Jeremiah 1:5 & Jeremiah 29:11).

My prayer is for the universal language of “Issues” to completely rest in the assurance that Jesus can relate. That we may rest in the assurance that Jesus is the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). To God be the glory, amen.

Thought for the day

jesus-reaching-inI’ve come to realize it’s not about the number of likes you receive or the number of people following your page. All that matters is one life being transformed because you wrote the words God spoke through you.  At the end of the day, I just want to do God’s will by reaching out to lift as many as I can from the depths of despair into the marvelous comforts of God’s grace.

Today, reach out to someone who is drowning in this thing we call life by introducing them to the one who is able to save. His name is Jesus.
