Stay grounded

Used-Bible2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The word of God is the foundation for life and a well-spring of sound living. So, why is it countless bibles become table fixtures sitting around collecting dust? Many homes around the world have bibles that have become dust collectors or formal room decoration. Growing up as a kid we had one in our home as well.

Far too often we run to the bible during times of trouble or when we feel the need for comfort because everything else has failed. I believe many do not realize as Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Once you realize that the Father loves and cares for you so much that he sent His son not only to die for you and I, but created His words as a blue print for life, then the world we live in will be different. This isn’t a pie in the sky theory, it is life, truth and my personal experience as well.

Does that mean life will be void of trouble? Not at all! John 16:33 states “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Jesus told His disciples that they will experience trouble. However, the words He spoke can and will provide peace by the example He set for His children.

My prayer is we will use everything Jesus has provided to live this thing we call life. Through the good and bad times, the unanswered questions, the “whys,” the disappointments and triumphs, Jesus can and will always relate to our lives (Hebrews 4:15). May the grace of God continue to be the source of hope.
